RDFa and Microdata in Drupal

The promise of the semantic web has hovered on the horizon since Tim Berners Lee coined the term in 2001.

Ten years later several competing formats have gained passionate groups of followers but no single format has been widely adopted by users or search engines.

Several months ago Microsoft, Google, and Yahoo announced shared support for microdata which is documented on http://schema.org

Drupal 7 supports RDFa and there is module support for microdata.

This will be an introduction for those not familiar with RDFa and microdata and a quick walk through the current state of semantic markup.
